Perfecting Self-Improvement: On Ones and the Impact of Strong Fixes

Self-improvement has always been a prominent focus in my life. From a very early age, I recognized the imperfections in myself and the world around me. I’ve always felt compelled to refine these things, tweak them, change them, “fix” them somehow. The act of perfecting, for me, has been a lifelong occupation. Yet no matter what I do to appease my inner sense of what is “right” or “correct,” dissatisfaction and irritation prevail.

Without knowing me personally, you might assume from these statements that I’m a Type 1, but that would be premature (not to mention incorrect). While I’m not a core 1, I do have a prominent 1-fix that impacts my life in very noticeable ways. For many of us, the second type in our Trifix can be a powerful influence. It can even cause mistyping. For me, 1 is deeply ingrained in my Trifix (417) and at times is indistinguishable from my other fixes due to their lines of connection.
