While we often focus on the characteristic way each of the nine Enneagram types utilized the ego in ways that can be unintentionally limiting, it’s easy to forget that these limitations and fixations also reveal the keys to liberation. As we begin to move past simply identifying and labeling our defense patterns, which is incidentally a necessary phase of development, we start to see that our most prominent “weaknesses” and core fears are the doorway through which we can free ourselves.
